About Department

The Department of Chemial Engineering of UICT is one of the leading Chemical Engineering Departments in the state of Maharashtra maintaining high standards in teaching, research and industrial liaising.

Department of Chemical Engineering conducts under-graduate (UG) and post-graduate (PG) programs in Chemical Engineering.

BE Chemical Engineering, four-year undergraduate program was started in 1995. It has evolved steadily since then and made significant strides in terms of infrastructure, faculty expertise, student excellence and research activities. Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University (KBCNMU) has awarded Autonomous status for the BE program.

ME Chemical Engineering program was started in 2007 to cater to the demand of Industry and R&D establishments.

The department has 10 faculty members with experience in research and industry.

The Department is well-equipped with the state of art research facility. The laboratories are well equipped with heat exchangers (shell and tube, finned tube, double pipe), distillation columns (bubble cap, packed tower, steam, vacuum), extraction towers (solid-liquid, liquid-liquid), absorption systems, cooling towers, evaporators, crystallizers, reactor (CSTR, PFR, Packed bed, Fluidized bed), dryers, crushers, cyclones, filtration devices, pumps (centrifugal and reciprocating) etc. The characterization instruments cover techniques for determination of diffusivity, mass, & heat transfer coefficient, Reynolds No., viscosity, coefficient of discharge etc. Microprocessor based control laboratory and modeling and simulation laboratory equipped with 25 PCs and latest software like MATLAB and CHEMCAD, are the special features of Chemical Engineering Division.
