The Women’s Studies Centre was established in August 2010 under the XI Plan of the UGC. The UGC has now placed our Centre in Phase I of the XII Plan and granted us some teaching and non-teaching posts. An amount of Rs. 33 lacs has been sanctioned by UGC for academic year 2013-14. This is very encouraging and heartening and will help us to give a definite shape to our Women’s Studies Centre as well as help to formulate and implement various schemes and programmes in the coming years.
The Centre seeks to consolidate and strengthen the many initiatives for awareness, sensitization and motivation of women towards development, teaching, research, knowledge production and knowledge transmission. The focus is on a paradigm shift in socialization and on concrete efforts to reach out to society to bridge the inequalities that confront women today. The Centre also seeks to play an interventionist role for policy making and policy implementation.
We seek cooperation and networking with other Women’s Studies Centres, NGO’s, social activists, academicians and educators to help us achieve our objectives.
