Master of Library and Information Science (M. L. I. Sc.) of one-year duration with semester pattern has following objectives: -
- a)To give the students an understanding of the basic principles and fundamental laws of librarianship.
- b)To enable the students to understand and appreciate the function and purposes of LICs in the changing social, cultural, technological and economic environment.
- c)To train the students in organization and the management of LICs including advance computer application to house-keeping activities of the libraries.
- d)To develop thorough knowledge of various sources of information, their organization and the necessary skills to provide traditional and modern library services.
- e)To develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes of the students leading to professional qualification for practicing librarianship as a career.
- f)The project & term work/ Seminar/ Educational Tour prescribed in the course, shall carry maximum 50 marks and the Project Work shall carry maximum 100 marks. Details are provided in the Examination Scheme.

- 1. To facilitate students to demonstrate a degree of mastery over the area as per their program of specialization at a level higher than requirements in UG program.
- 2. To enable students to carry out research/investigation and development work independently to solve critical problems in their respective field.
- 3. To apply a number of strategies for sorting through the applicability of and connections among a range of scholarly approaches to speculate and reconstruct their previous knowledge.
- 4. To prepare students to produce original scholarship that contributes to knowledge in their respective fields
- 5. To persuade students to compare and validate previous and contemporary development in their respective field of knowledge to generate remedies for contemporary social situation.

- Examination Pattern:
- There would be continuous internal assessment (CIA) and an end of term examination (ETE) for each course. The pattern of the Exam. Is 60:40.
- Internal Examination:
- Concern teacher in consultation with head of the department may conduct 2 tests of 20 marks for internal examination of all theory courses. Department will declare detailed time-table well in advance.
- External Examination:
- University will conduct external examinations at the end of each semester. Each course will have examination of 60 marks. Department will declare detailed time table for external examinations well in advance.

- To pass any course, the candidate has to secure at least 40% marks in the internal as well as in the external examinations. The student failed in internal or external or in both examinations shall have to appear for subsequent internal or external or both examinations respectively for that course. The student having the backlog of any course(s) from one year of M.L.I. Sc.

- Award of class/Grade: As per the University’s Award of class/Grade: on rules of CGPA system.

- Declaration of results: The University Examination Section, K.B.C.N.M.U., Jalgaon.
- Total Credits of the program: 64 (16 core credits including 20 credits of Project/Practical, 08 skill enhancement credits, 08 subject elective credits and 04 audit credits)

- For the award of Master of Library and Information Science (M. L. I. Sc.) a candidate should fulfill the following conditions: -
- I. A student should have attended at least 75% of the total number of lectures and practical in the said course and shall have secured at least 40% of marks in Theory, Practical and Term work.
- II. A student, who does not thus obtain 40% of marks in the Theory, Practical, and internal, will have to give fresh terms.
- III. The maximum marks in each subject, both the theory as well as practical examinations will be 100, which shall be divided into two heads namely i) “external’’ and ii) ‘’internal’’ carrying 60 marks & 40 marks respectively.
