UICT (University Institute of Chemical Technology) of North Maharashtra University founded in the year 1994 (formerly known as University Department of Chemical Technology), has now established itself as center of academic excellence. Prof. Dr. S. Mishra is heading the Institute. The Institute offers AICTE recognized Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) and Master of Technology (M.Tech.) degree courses and pursues Ph. D. Research Programme in Chemical Engineering and Technology Branches.
UICT, North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon was established to cater the technological needs in the field of Plastic Technology,Paint Technology, Oil Technology,Food Technology and in Chemical Engineering of the Khandesh region and Maharashtra well. The department has well qualified faculty, grand building, rich departmental library and well equipped laboratories. The curricula of designed as per the requirement of industries.
Apart from the academic curriculum, to develop the soft skills of computer aids, number of the soft wares like MATLAB, CHEMCAD etc. have been procured. The internet is accessible through VSAT and BSNL broadband connections in computer laboratories and all other computers. Separate HR and EM workshops are arranged for the students besides regular course on communication skills and Industrial Management and routine GD exercise.
The B. Tech. students are sent to the industrial training for the period of eight weeks in the pre-final year to get well acquainted to the industrial atmosphere. Research projects are given to the final year students to develop analytical ability and habit to conduct the literature review and empirical work independently. The M. Tech. students are sent to industrial research project for one year. Students are asked to deliver two seminars assignments to develop presentation skills and understand latest trends in technology.
Good numbers of sponsored research projects, research students registered for their Ph.D. degree, publications in reputed journals and well equipped laboratories with sophisticated characterization and processing equipments witness the research strengths of the Department.
In the capacity of Head of the Department I appeal to the academic institutions and industries to have collaborations with the Department in the areas of research mentioned in the brochure. I welcome the proposals and suggestions in this regard for the better future of the society.
