Gandhiji gave social dimension to the concept of non-violence and demonstrated it through his life and work. Now the same philosophy and concept can be used as an instrument for fighting against injustice at all levels. Hence, there is a great need to acquaint the teachers and students, with his thinking and work and involve them in studies, research and extension services for constructive work. Gandhiji's ideas are desired to be applied to the reconstruction of human society on moral, ethical, non-violent and spiritual foundations.

On being asked by a disciple about the model of independent India, Gandhiji said - "I shall work for an India in which the poorest shall feel that it is their country, in whose making they have an effective voice, an India in which there shall be no high class and low class of people, an India in which all communities shall live in perfect harmony, there can be no room in such an India for the curse of untouchability, abolishing the curse of intoxicating drinks and drugs, women who will enjoy the same rights as men. This is the India of my dream". The Center shall strive to realise his dreams.
