The Khandesh Archives and Museum Centre was established by North Maharashtra University on 18th May 2009. The objective of establishing this centre was established to facilitate conservation as well as research of rich historicity of Khandesh regions that has been preserved throughout the ages in the form of historical artifacts and to acquaint the students of future generations with the fast vanishing tribal cultures and traditions of this region.
Thanks to the vision and dynamic leadership of Former Vice Chancellor of North Maharashtra University Prof. Sudhir U Meshram, the Centre has moved into a new and fully furnished facility that is established in the Central Library building of the University and was inaugurated at the auspicious hands of Hon. Gulabrao Deokar on 1st February, 2013.
The Centre has been able to acquire considerable collection in this short span of its existence and owes much of the credit in this regard to (Late) Shrimant. Manikraje Shivrao Vishwasrao Pawar Educational and Historical Trust, Nagardevla, Tehsil Pachora, Jalgaon District, which has liberally donated the artifacts that were in its possession and meticulously preserved for over two hundred years. The Centre takes great pride in the ivory objects, utensils of daily usage, royal attire, wooden carved objects, coins, numismatics, decorative and vanity items, play and fun objects, items made of China clay and glass, stone sculptures of Lord Rama and Sita, weapons, wall mount trophies of animals such as panther, tiger, deer; modi script manuscripts, letters and correspondence of Shri.
